Our Story - Aran Islands Spirit
Pat Mullen emigrated to America from the Aran Islands in 1905.
Having been blacklisted from work houses for co-founding labour unions and organizing strikes, the enterprising Aran man survived by distilling and bootlegging whiskey from his home in south Boston during the prohibition era.
Upon returning home to Aran with his son P.J., Pat co-directed the film 'Man of Aran' and later wrote the book of the same name.
Pats legacy in the whiskey business is now resurrected by his great-grandson, Aonghus picking up where pat left off in Aran 100 years later.
